Round Rock Plumbing FAQ

Costs & Quotes

How much does a plumber cost in Round Rock?

Most repairs land between $150 and $600. Water heater replacement runs $1,400–$2,200 for tank units, $3,200–$5,500 for tankless retrofits. Emergency service adds $129–$249. See the full 2026 Round Rock price guide.

Do you charge by the hour?

No — flat quotes approved before work starts. If we find something unexpected, work pauses and you approve a new number first. The diagnostic visit ($89 standard, $129–$249 emergency) is credited toward the repair.

Do you charge extra for emergency or weekend calls?

The emergency call-out fee varies by hour and distance ($129–$249), quoted before we dispatch. If you proceed with the repair, the fee is credited. Holidays carry a disclosed 25% premium.

Round Rock Water Stuff

Is Round Rock's water really that hard?

Yes — roughly 14–16 grains per gallon. And it varies: city supply comes from Lake Georgetown surface water blended with Edwards Aquifer wells and Lake Travis water; Chisholm Trail SUD areas east of town run groundwater; rural edges are on private wells. Different sources, different mineral profiles — we test at your tap before recommending anything.

My water bill spiked. What now?

Check the low-flow indicator on your meter with everything off — if it's moving, you have a leak. Then call us: detection is $250–$450 with a written report, and that report is exactly what the City of Round Rock wants for its leak-adjustment claim.

Why do Round Rock homes get slab leaks?

Three reasons: copper pipes against shifting black-clay soil, high pressure in many neighborhoods, and water chemistry. Our drought-rain cycles mean the ground never stops moving. A healthy PRV and sensible pressure are your best defenses.

Which water system is my house on?

Most of Round Rock proper is City of Round Rock (Lake Georgetown blend). East toward Hutto and the Chisholm Valley area is largely Chisholm Trail SUD groundwater. Rural edges are private wells. Not sure? Your utility bill says — and we'll test hardness on-site regardless.

Licensing & Trust

Are you licensed in Texas?

Yes. Work is performed by or under a Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) licensed plumber, we're insured, and license numbers go on every quote on request.

Do water heater replacements need a permit?

Yes — the City of Round Rock requires a permit for water heater replacement. Our quotes include permitting and haul-away. Anyone quoting dramatically below market is likely skipping it, which can bite you at sale or insurance time.

What if something breaks after you leave?

Workmanship is warranted for one year, and manufacturer parts warranties pass through to you in writing. If our repair fails, we come back and make it right.

Practical

Repair or replace my 9-year-old water heater?

In Round Rock water, 9 years is the danger zone for an unmaintained tank. Sound tank with a spent anode? $180 buys years. Corroding tank? Replacement math wins — and a softener doubles the next unit's life.

Can I flush my own water heater?

Often, yes — garden hose on the drain valve, run till clear. But seized valves on older units are common, and a snapped valve is an emergency. If the unit is 8+ years old or never been flushed, having us do the first one is cheap insurance.

How fast can you actually get here?

Emergencies: 20–45 minutes inside Round Rock proper, 45–70 minutes across the wider Williamson County coverage. Scheduled work: usually same-day or next morning.
